Your privacy

This website is for reading. It does not track you, show advertising or sell anything.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts for readers, no comment forms, no newsletters, no analytics or advertising tools, and no tracking cookies.

Like every website, the server that delivers these pages briefly records technical information such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify readers.

Cookies and storage

The site sets no cookies for readers. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is remembered in your own browser (not sent to us). The only cookie the site uses is a sign-in cookie for the author’s newsroom.

Videos and links to other websites

Videos from YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo are only loaded when you press play. YouTube videos use its privacy-enhanced mode. Once a video is playing, or if you follow a link to another website (such as a newspaper that republished a column), that service’s own privacy policy applies.

Sharing buttons

The WhatsApp, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Telegram buttons are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to those services unless you click one.
